Welcome to The Chains. By using chains-game.com (the “Service”) you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

The Service

The Chains is a free daily puzzle game for entertainment purposes. We may add, change, or remove features at any time, including paid features in the future (any paid features will have their own posted terms before you're charged anything).

Accounts

Accounts are optional. You're responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in method secure. You must be 13 or older to create an account. Email/password accounts require a verified email address; we offer optional two-factor authentication (an authenticator app or an emailed code) that we encourage you to enable. We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the Service, attempt to disrupt it, or violate these terms.

Usernames & social features

Every account holder picks a username. Usernames are public: they appear on the global leaderboard, visible to anyone, and to friends you connect with. Don't choose a username that impersonates The Chains, another person, or is otherwise unlawful, harassing, or obscene; we screen for this on a best-effort basis and may rename or suspend accounts that slip through or that we're notified about via the Report feature. You can send, accept, decline, or remove friend connections, and block other players, at any time. Don't use friend requests or the Report feature to harass other players or file bad-faith reports.

Fair play & acceptable use

Don't attempt to disrupt the Service, scrape it at abusive volume, reverse-engineer puzzle answers to spoil them for others before the day's puzzle ends, exploit bugs for leaderboard placement, or use the Service for anything unlawful. We may reset scores, streaks, badges, or leaderboard placement obtained through exploits, and leaderboard rankings and hint usage may be adjusted or corrected without notice if we find an error or an exploit.

Intellectual property & non-affiliation

The Chains' puzzle format, design, text, and original content are ours. The Chains is an independent fan-made game. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the National Football League (NFL), any NFL team, the NFL Players Association, ESPN, or any college or university. NFL team names and logos, college names, player names, and player images are the property of their respective owners and are used solely for identification and informational purposes. All underlying roster facts are drawn from publicly available data. If you are a rights holder with a concern, contact admin@chains-game.com and we will respond promptly.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy of any roster or statistical data, leaderboard rankings, uninterrupted availability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Puzzle data may contain errors; scores, streaks, and badges have no monetary value.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Chains and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the Service, and our total liability for any claim will not exceed fifty US dollars ($50) or the amount you paid us in the past twelve months, whichever is greater.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be noted in the site's patch notes with an updated date above. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
